01Reading cracks
Vertical hairline cracks in poured walls are often shrinkage. Horizontal cracks in block basement walls suggest soil pressure. Stair-step cracks in brick or block point to settlement at one corner.
02Repair methods
Epoxy or polyurethane injection seals poured concrete cracks against water. Brick and block are repointed. If the crack is active, the cause must be fixed first, often with slab foundation repair or wall bracing.

03Monitoring

Mark crack ends and date them. Photos every few months show whether a crack is growing.
