01Common fixes
Extending downspouts well away from the house, regrading soil so it slopes away, French drains along the uphill side, interior perimeter drains with a sump pump for basements, and swales to steer runoff around the house.
02Hillside lots
On ridge slopes, water running downhill hits the back of the house first. A curtain drain uphill can intercept it before it saturates clay against the wall.

03With structural repair

Drainage is usually added alongside basement wall repair or crawl space work so the fix lasts.
